The mid Isle U10 boys select team recently took part in the mini World Cup up in Comox May 14&15. The boys represented team Mexico and played 4 games over the two days. Weather was not the greatest however that did not stop the team from playing hard, getting results but most importantly having fun!
The team did great in the tourney. They won the first three games and tied the last game. There were no semi finals or finals for this age group.
There was over 80 teams registered for the whole tournament, 22 of which were U10 boys teams.
The U10 boys teams were from Comox, Campbell River, Ucluelet, Sunshine coast, Gabriola, Nanaimo, Powell River and Port Alberni; that being said all the teams we played were from Comox.
Saturday;
Game 1 – versus Cameroon 7-5 – they were down 4-0 fairly early and came back strong and won.
Game 2- versus Philippines 5-2 win. Great effort again, even though they were wet from the rain that didn’t deter them from playing hard.
Sunday;
Game 3 – versus New Zealand 3-2 – We were up 2-0, they tied it up and we scored late to win the game.
Game 4 – versus Italy 9-9 – we were again down early 3-0 we came back to make it 4-3 then it went back and forth and we managed to take the lead but Comox scored late to tie it up.
The team played great, lots of laughs and fun had by all!
