Vancouver Island Soccer for Youth and Kids
Mid-Isle’s representative “Mariners” teams participate in the Upper Island Soccer Association (UISA) League, which is one competitive level above recreational House League play. Opposition teams in the UISA League (and sometimes, Mariners teammates) come from the Comox Valley, Campbell River, Oceanside, Nanaimo, Powell River, and Port Alberni.
Mid-Isle Mariners teams train together during the Club’s Monday night development sessions, and possibly one other session during the week. In most cases, Mariners players will also train and play with the Club’s Youth Development u0026amp; Exhibition ("House") team for their appropriate age group, and attend all scheduled practices and games for that team as well.
Players on Mid-Isle Mariners teams are dedicated to their own development and committed to their team. This means participation in all available training sessions and games, but also participation in fundraising activities and community relations initiatives where appropriate. Mariners teams represent the Mid-Isle Soccer Club at all Club functions as well as any tournaments to which the team travels, and are expected to act as positive role models for other players in the Club at all times.
Evaluations for placement on these representative teams takes place annually in the Spring, and are open to any player wishing to attend. If selected for the roster, a player will be notified via email and will be given a deadline within which they need to respond to the Club in order to accept the position. Once teams are formed, there may be informal meetings, practices, and even friendly matches scheduled throughout the summer months, but formal training does not begin until August for the upcoming season.
