Vancouver Island Soccer for Young Athletes

Tier 4 (House)

MidIsle Soccer offers its primary program, Tier 4, for athletes aged U4-U18.  The season starts in September and runs to March.  Tier 4 is a recreational level of play for entry-level athletes, new athletes, and any young players who want to have fun and play soccer!  Starting at the U4-U5 level with Tots, and moving through to U18, there is a team for every young athlete. MidIsle Soccer's primary goal is to offer a safe, fun environment for children to develop their skills and confidence, and learn how to be active for life.

MID ISLE SOCCER TOTS
U4 - U5: is an opportunity for the little ones to get out on the soccer field and kick a ball around once a week with their parents in a fun, lively atmosphere.  It introduces the sport of soccer, the concept of "the coach", and participating in team activities. The Tots program runs Saturday mornings at Forrest Field alongside our Pony B and C programs.  Mid Isle offers 2 sessions during the soccer season:  Autumn (Mid September to mid December) and Winter (January to March).  When registration opens, you can sign up for both sessions or Autumn only start.  Registration for Winter session only will not open until November. Registration is capped at 40 players (two groups of 20) in each session.

MID ISLE PONY SOCCER - Sponsored by Tim Hortons
Pony players are split into 2 divisions - Pony B, and Pony C and play on Saturday at Forrest Field in Ladysmith.  These age groups are the first foray into the traditional notion of teams with separate practice and game-days. Teams are coached by parent volunteers. The focus at this age is on ball mastery, as well as the challenge of recognizing teammates and when to dribble or pass.
U6-U7 Pony C :  Play is against another Pony C team
U8-U9 Pony B :  Play is against another Pony B team

MID ISLE GIRL POWER - GIRLS-ONLY SOCCER PROGRAM
U6-U9:  The program features fun 3-on-3 games on Saturdays at Forrest Field during the regular Pony Soccer time slot.  A first foray into the traditional notion of teams with separate practice and game-days. Teams are coached by parent volunteers. The focus at this age is on ball mastery, as well as the challenge of recognizing teammates and when to dribble or pass.

MID ISLE SOCCER HOUSE
U10-U18 - In the younger years athletes will learn about space and how to use it to help themselves and their team.  As they get older there is a bigger focus on technique and coaches start to introduce the tactical side of the game with the hope that players develop understanding of why and where to move.  Teams are coached by parent volunteers. The U10/11 and 12/13 teams play 7v7 games, ensuring an even level of play. The U14 to U18 teams play 8-a-side games across the width of a regular soccer field. U10-U18 teams play against teams from Nanaimo, Oceanside, and Gabriola Island.
